Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his home with community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the US. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Fourth service In the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons for the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. Then he started his career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
