Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second youngest winner in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born July 24th 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the empathetic and curious character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the prize. After responding to a call for auditions, she was able to audition when she was nine years old, with no acting experience before that, she won Flora McGrath's role. Flora is the daughter of the Scottish pianist, who was deaf. The couple were relocated into New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century to arrange a marriage. At the age of a teen, her family moved from Canadian to United States. Paquin started her acting career as a child with a role of the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre followed by an important role of Fly Away Home. Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding (1997). She was a part of the supporting cast in Princess of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. The role she played was for teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). She portrayed groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
